For the first time in over 40 years, House of Lords, is for sale. The 1753 whaling cottage on Broadway, one of S'conset's most historical streets, has been the Pine family summer home since 1959. It is offered for sale by Donald W. Pine. the sole owner of the property.

Broadway and the surrounding streets are frozen in time by S'conset's historical district while much of the island is going through an endless building boom, which is changing many neighborhoods forever.

The house backs on to Front Street, the shell-covered rutted road favored by Nantucket landscape artists on the bluff above the ocean. From House of Lords' back patio gate, S'conset's endless beach is a short one block walk "down below bank" and across Cod Fish Park. The ocean's seashell murmer wafts through the house's second floor bedroom windows at night.

As a summer home, rental property or an investment, the House of Lords sets itself apart from other homes on Broadway by providing whaling cottage character with uncharacteristic space. With 1738 square feet of livable space, it is one of the largest historical whaling cottages on the street. Unlike many of the other historical homes with a loft or knee-wall upstairs, the House of Lords' three and a half bedrooms are located on a full second floor with an attic for storage.

What began as a summer hideout from famlies for fishing and whaling boat captains (the "lords") is now a three season vacation home. Electric baseboard heat provides instant warmth for an early Spring visit for Daffodil Day or family gatherings at Thanksgiving and the Christmas Stroll.
