The Reporters Checklist is designed to get NN's reporters to start thinking about their reader as "your mother" rather than government officials or intellectuals, the readers they most often citewhen they are doing a story rather than government politicians
The Editors report is designed to make line editors into their reporters most critical readers. At the beginning of the project NN "editors" did not change stories in any way. Their job was essentially to make sure the reporter provided copy and to lay it out on a page.
